hi friends
Well Iam heartbroken.I have RH 7.0 and 32-bit YAMAHA SOUND CARD YMF724.It used to play only CDDB audio format on linux. However,it plays all the audio types on windows.
Recently i took the same sound card and installed it on a friend's system. It played all audio formats including MP3
on RH7.0.However it still continues to play only CDDDB on my computer.I have checked all the IRQ's and there are no conflicts.

On running sndconfig the system gets stuck. On removing the line "alias usb-controller usb-uhci" the card starts playing the CDDB format. If this is not done then even doesn't play CDDB format. It has also stopped working on windows. As i have already said,"I have checked the card on another system and it's working just fine"

MY MOTHERBOARD SPECIFICATION IN ASUS P3BF

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP

BYE

sndconfig

Try closing Xwindows and running 'sndconfig'.

Wow, I thought I saw the same problem, same hardware, same sound card in the General forum, all the same except the user's name. Hmmmmmmmmm
Anyways, could be a hardware problem, or try using a different driver, goto:
http://www.opensound.com
http://www.alsa-project.org

And see if you can't use a different driver to get it to work, if that doesn't work, try another sound card.

Good Luck.
