sound card not detected in redhat9 on intel865

i have tried installing alsa driver 1.0.10 but it gives an error while configuring. error is that it can't find some files, but i can clearly see that those files exist, so the problem is something else. my motherboard has an onboard soundcard, which linux doesn't detect anyway, so i realise that installing the driver won't do me much good. can anyone tell me how to get redhat9 to detect my soundcard? in true godfather style, "I will not forget"

How about saving yourself time and effort by ditching Redhat 9 for a newer distro such as Fedora Core. You can get Fedora Core from fedora.redhat.com.
