• Audio: Windows® sound system compatible, Built-in stereo speakers

• Audio Interface: Monaural mini microphone jack, Headphone jack

RealTek AC'97? I don't know. They don't have any details on your hardware for me to help you. Make sure you are using ALSA sound, and see if YAST can find your hardware at all. Post if yast finds anything.

If you have a DVD burner, you can test the 9.3 live DVD.

http://www.novell.com/products/linux..._eval_int.html

Compiled for x86 and 64bit. Perhaps a newer kernel may be the magic bullet. It's guesswork since the chipset isn't listed anywhere.

Post Sound On Sony VGN-A690

Hello everyone, I have the following hardware:

Sony VGN-A690
1 Gigabyte Memory
Intel Centrino 1.8GHZ
100 Gigbyte Hard Drive
Intel IPW2200 Wireless Card
Intel - Realtek High Definition Sound
17" Screen which goes to 1900X1200 resolution
Graphics Card - ATI Mobility Radeon X600

Have Fedora Core 3 with kernel-2.6.11-1.27_FC3. I configured this system from a document written by Stanley Finley. I found it on one of the forums, can't remember which one. It was very detailed and enabled many graphic updates to the system.

SOUND DOES WORK on this. I'm not sure if its because I compiled and installed alsa-1.0.9 or not but it works now. I can play DVD, CD's and MPG's with sound. I don't play many games so I don't know if the sound works on games. I do get sound on Yahoo messanger.

Here is the strange part about the sound that doesn't work. The computer came with a A/V dock which has built in TV with two speakers with a sub-woofer. I can not get any sound out of those speakers when this system is docked. The only sound comes via the headphone jack which is located on the computer.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try running alsaconf as root. I've seen this work on some stubborn sound cards before.
