open a shell and type
su...to get root powers then type
lsmod

and look for snd-hda-intel or similar
and look for soundcore

your list of modules lsmod will be too long to post here so at this stage if you can not see it....run new command

modprobe snd-hda-intel and post what errors you get please

BTW I do not have your hardware but looked here

looks like you have sound modules ok....lets drill in deeper.

what mixer are you using?

if you have none preferred try with root powers
alsamixer and check that the output tabs have not got your sound stuff muted or volums low pls

2) what sound player do you want to use to play mp3, audio cd? etc

in Mandriva there are sample sounds at /usr/share/sounds but not sure if they are same place for Fedora.

3) if you are using KDE...go into control centre / sound/ sound system and click on test sound....also look at hardware tab and reduce auto suspend to zero in general tab pls

post your /var/log/syslog lines that show pulseaudio pls
and lines for your sound device.

2) there is only one open ticket for fedora
http://www.pulseaudio.org/ticket/187

but you are right ppl have had issues with PA so try turning it off.

in Mdv its at /etc/sysconfig/pulseaudio and /etc/pulse

but you will be changing the sysconfig file so that
PULSE_SERVER_TYPE=none is saved with root powers in file called
/etc/sysconfig/pulseaudio

assuming mdv and fedora have similar structure but it will be /etc so do a search if its not where mine is pls

do a full shutdown and boot up to test pls
