Wink permissions


This is to the guy that only gets sound as root:
As root:
modprobe sound, if no reply modprobe emu1k01
if it doesn't return anything or returns an error then go download the driver and install it. Then do the following.
You will need to load the kernel module everytime if you don't add it to /etc/modules.conf. I would recommend adding it to modules.conf

chmod 755 /dev/dsp /dev/dsp1 ; ln -sf /dev/dsp /dev/dsp1

that should solve the problem

Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10K1 Module: disabled

Thanks guys, for reminding me to turn OFF PNP OS in the Bios!!! after a fresh install of RedHat 8.0 I :P once PNP was turned off, the linux startup detected and configured my SB Live! as well as my WinTV tunercard automatically for me!! and all i had to do was log in and DOH!!!! everything works great....

I am using double booting with RH Linux 8 Pro & Win XP. I am using Sound Blaster Live card & when I did the test I received this message

Vendor: Creative Labs
Model: SB Live! EMU10k1
Module: EMU10k1

So I guess it must be working as until now I haven't try to listen to any audio file.

Oh great!!! haha

thx for all of you. I finally turned off the PnP detection in the BIOS, since than I can heart CD!! haha I am very happy haha thx again
