IBM 30G 100/7200/2mb IDE Hard drive

Phillips Brilliance 150P 15" flat panel monitor

why not try this:
(you must be superuser to do the following)

$setup

select SOUND CARD, and linux must detect it, at the end, the program test your soundcard and you must hear a sound playing,,, thatīt it !

Sound Blaster Doesn't work

Tried $setup in my RH 7.0, however, cannot find this command, nor does Linux recognize it. Is there some directory I need to be in before I call this routine? Am I doing something wrong?

For froycard

Please see my previous post. Also, I was able to play a CD using RH Linux. So I know my Soundblaster works for that purpose. What I am expecting is to hear sounds when I click on icons, etc. Am I expecting too much?

So regular CD's work huh, then what type of sounds are you trying to play? If your expecting sounds on clicking icons or anything, you might need to set that up yourself. Can you play wav or any other formats. If it works then, your sound card is working perfectly.

Well, it seems that you soundcard does work fine so, what you want now is to customize your desktop in order that it beeps when you click on any icon. That is for another thread, guy...
