sound....


Hello I use slackware and I dont have any sound...
how can I see what soundcard I have , Where to find drivers
and how to setup drivers ?

type "lspci" on the command line, go to www.alsa-project.org, search through their soundcard-matrix for your card (if you figured out which one it is from the output of lspci) and read the info there on how to install the drivers.

but I didnt find the file they talk about

I think i found the files I have done exactly like they told me I have unmuted all devices

my sound worked when I was running knoppix(from cd)

check your user permissions...
/dev/dsp* /dev/mixer*, usually are not free for normal users..
you can chmod the paths or put your user in SYS group...
