SOS from a visiting seaman

backtack is a good tool for me considering my profession.
but everytime i type startx, my backtrack4 wont start. it says fatal error, no screen found. i tried to configure but it says i might be using and older version of x server.
im using dell xps with windows 7 home premium.
is there a way i can upgrade my x server so i can run backtrack or there might be other problem with another solution.
pls help. my ship is leaving soon.

tks and happy new year to all.

Since you are in a hurry, here is a quickie... at the boot prompt type xdrvr=vesa

Also backtrack 3 is pretty good and will probably work.

Please spell out your words. In addition, please use thread titles that describe your problem in some way (so something containing the error message would have been good), as you're asked to when posting threads here.
