Question Sony ericssion w810:Take photo and use as webcam


Hi..
Is there any way that I can take picture with my Sony Ericssion w810 on Ubuntu 10.10 (like Pc Suite on windows) or use it as web-cam?

open a terminal type lsusb click enter
note what is listed now plug in the phone turn it on may need to turn the cam part on
in the terminal type lsusb click enter
did it list the phone as a cam
if it was seen
look in sound & video for cheese webcam booth
find cheese you may need to install it
after you get cheese try the cam in it

hope it works for you

one more thing
if you have a memory card in it you will need to take it out

Dear no2498,

Below is the list of connected USBes on my computer.as you see, it detect my phone as a "W810i Phone" but not a cam. It although did not change when I active camera
I also installed cheese program but it cant detect any cam..
on the sound and video properties (gstreamer-properties ) the phone is not known as an input video (
do you have any idea?

? did you do lsusb after you turned the cam on

yes..
here is what I do:
1-remove the flash memory
2-turn on the phone and after it competently boot up, I connect the usb cable
3-between "file mode" and "phone mode", I choose phone mode (on the phone)
4-turn camera on

but it does not list it as a cam (
"lsusb" command has the same output whether I was on cam mode or not

? can you just turn the cam on and not the phone
