Unhappy Something wrong when I try to rpm -e *.. rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error dete...


Suddenly now when I try to remove rpm packadges I get this:

I have no idea what's wrong?! It first came after I installed gtrat, gtray wasn't working so I was going to erase it using rpm -e gtray but then I got this:

Guess you need to run database recovery, as it says.
Do
rpm --rebuilddb

Okay I can't do jack shit that has any relations to rpm anymore.. maybe this is a sign for me to try out debian.

I ran into this issue as well. I was able to get things working by going to /var/lib/rpm, renaming the __db.* files, and re-running rpm --rebuilddb. Things seem to be working normally, but YMMV.

I had the exact same problem and the advice that ktambascio offers is what fixed me up as well. Try it out and keep us posted!

I am having the same problem while trying to install an rpm. Kevin, what did you rename your __db.* files as?

Worked for me, I didn't rename the .db files, just erase them. rpm --rebuilddb finally ran.
