Something happened to my sound, it's very low..

It was ok this morning but now even when i turn everyhing at 100% my sound is very low.. what could have i done and how can i bring my sound back to normal?

There are two places to typically adjust volume, the speakers and the mixer. Make sure both are set to acceptable levels, and if you're getting any crackling or similar verify your wires are intact.

speakers - check

tried booting in windows - it works perfectly fine

On my fedora - sound is very low.. but was ok this morning..

try using, if it is installed, if not install it
you might find there is another slider in kmix that isnt available in other mixers, i had a similer problem and this seemed to fix it

Might also need to check alsa mixer and check all mixer volumes to be displayed in your mixer. One of the sliders may be set too low and not visible atm.

also, check to see if the program you are using has its own volume control. I know VLC and Mplayer do.

in kmix, go to 'settings', configure channels and see what's selected and what isn't and seeing if any of the unchecked options help

Ah... pulse audio. I've heard it's more trouble than it's worth. would this link be of any use?

Sound has been and still is imo one of the major problems linux has. There needs to be a single unified sound system... alsa, oss, pulseaudio, esd, a half dozen different mixers that tweak some of the same settings and not others, etc... It's always a major hassle to figure out where exactly a sound problem is originating in linux.
