Angry Some sites won't work in Ubuntu 10.04

Hi,
I am a newbie and have installed Ubuntu 10.04. I am connecting to DSL via Modem directly no router. It's a wired connecton to modem from PC.

Most of the sites are opening fine but few websites won't open in Firefox/opera or take foreever 10/15 mins to open.

Some example sites are indianrail.gov.in, computerworld.com, indianexpress.com etc..

Maybe a DNS problem. I think you're using your provider's DNS, maybe try the GOOGLE's ones (address are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) to see if the situation is better... Hope it helps

The output from
nslookup indianrail.gov.in
is
--------------------------------------------------------
spandey@spandey-desktop ~ $ nslookup indianrail.gov.in
Server: 218.248.255.163
Address: 218.248.255.163#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: indianrail.gov.in
Address: 203.176.113.78
-------------------------------------------------------

when I put 203.176.113.78 in addressbar of Firefox Browser Nothing happens..

When I put linuxquestions.org in addressbar of Firefox Browser it tries to open and gets stuck at "waiting for d1.openx.org"

But you can connect?
You can connect using puppy, right?
Look at the settings in puppy (gateway, DNS...) and see if they are different.

Kind regards

So you are posting from puppy, via a live CD?
What are the settings in puppy?
DNS, IP, gateway....
How are the settings in firefox in puppy?

Just wondering,
Why do I see the mint icon in your profile if you post from puppy liveCD?

Kind regards
