Some help with man

sometimes a command is in two different sections like (1) or (2)
i think syslog does this.
How do i specificy in which category the man should look ?
The man is the same but when let's say you read it at section (6) and at the end of the command you get a line check also same_command(8) , how do i do that ?

(1) Systems Calls
(2) ...
etc.. or something like that..

Hi,

man <number> <item>

I.e.:

man 2 syslog
man 3 syslog

Meaning of most common (linux) sections that are used:

http://linux.omnipotent.net/article....d=12493&page=3

man man for more details

Hope this helps.

If you need help with man, you need to find a man who is willing to be more open!

Either that or become a lesbian...
