1. Install compress, however as you don't bother to tell us what distro you're using you're on your own for that one.
2. man unzip shows that you should use -d to specify the directory to unzip the files to, your command as it stands tells unzip to extract the file /home/sam/f5

in case its not clear, the directory /home/sam/ is empty therefore the unzip command is unable to process anything in it.

Try
Code:
yum provides */compress
and see if that tells you which package needs installed.

Hi Tentenths , schneidz

Still i am in confusion. If i want to unzip one file into other user /home/ path from current location, what to do ?
Still i am having problem.

PHP Code:
pwd
/home/oracle
>> Going to zip following file
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 2245 Feb 12 19:20 f4

PHP Code:
zip f4_dummy f4
adding
f4 (deflated 88%)
PHP Code:
ls -ld f4*
-
rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall  2245 Feb 12 19:20 f4
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall   415 Feb 12 21:40 f4_dummy.zip
>> wanna unzip <f4_dummy.zip> into sams home path from oracles current location.

>> how do i achieve it ?? - I do NOT find anyway. Please help me ..

maybe zcat can help ?

also you may want research tar and bz2 for better compression/compatibility.
