Unhappy Software for Lifestyle CnM Lifebook

Where can I find software for the Lifestyle CnM Lifebook? I realise that it is a Debian system, but I do not know what version. So far I have found that only files with .xap and .info suffixes can be used. Is XAP a form of zip packaging? Much cnfused. Please help as Lifestyle support team have said that only software on their site is compatible with the notebook. This I don't believe.

Have you tried to install anything, just to see what happens?
