softwaire RAID in 2.6.9?

I have a fresh install of RH9 and am using software raid 0 for my swap and raid 1 for everything else. it works fine.

I want to upgrade to the 2.6.9 kernel so i have have ntfs read support for my external usb drive.

When I compile the kernel, I get this error from make install

No module raid0 found for kernel 2.6.9

Does 2.6.9 not support the raid 0? I tried compiling it into the kernel also, and i get a similar error.

help?

My goal is to get my external drive working and have my box able to read ntfs.

i copied the preconfigured config file from /boot to /usr/src/linux (2.6.9) and did a make menuconfig to enable ntfs.

Since I was having problems with this, I tried the same thing with 2.4.28 since the config file is from 2.4.20-8

When I do that, one of my interfaces doesn't come up and it says there's no module for iptables (which is weird because it doesn't do that with 2.4.20-8 which came with redhat and they're both 2.4.x)

help?

using a config file from 2.4. kernel won't be a good idea

instead install a 2.6.9 rpm
