check your bios for boot order
I have no idea what computer you are trying to load linux on, but you must
get into the bios and set the boot order so the floppy drive or cd-rom drive boots before the hard drive ..usually called hdd 0 in the bios. post your computer type & some one will tell you how to get to the bios. If your computer does not boot from cd-rom or dvd-rom then you need a linux boot floppy disk with your burned linux cd in the cd-rom drive. reboot your computer with the linux floppy boot disk in the floppy drive & the linux cd in the cd drive and the os should start to install. If the install fails , perhaps the linux you are trying to install requies a more powerful computer...faster cpu, more memory whatever. post more info on your box. good lick |
I installed Mepis using a cd that I ordered from the mepis website http://www.mepis.org/forum?PHPSESSID...826e368c2c8931
I think that it cost $10.00 but of course you can also burn your own for free! It was a lot easier than installing Windows XP. zoey :study: |
