SMPT/Sendmail?


Hi
While configuring email client like evolution we have to select either sendmail or smtp ... wen to select sendmail and wen to select smtp?

email

you use sendmail when you have your own email server configured on your linux box. otherwise you use imap when the server you are connecting to has imap access and pop3 when pop3...if you have your server configured for sendmail and imap access, then you use imap...

sendmail. its fast. ur pc need not be mail server.

Hi i think i got answer for this : so see it helps u all or not:
1) SMTP Server Type using for good mail server security, we have to choose TLS and ecrypted options.

2) But Sendmail type using mail delvering from local machine throgh sendmail program.

man! choose whatever you want! if your mail provider has given you a SMTP server then use it! else use Sendmail

the only difference is that emails you send with Sendmail won't be there in the provider's Sent Box.
