"smbclient :- command not found ?"

Hello y'all. Would like to know why anytime i try to make use of my
Quote:
"smbclient command" i get a bash: command not found" on my Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 beta (Tikanga)
, and the same command
Quote:
"smbclient" runs perfectly on my "Oracle Linux server release 5.6"
without any prior configuration.

Also when i try to find the
Quote:
"smb service or smbd daemon"
, i cant seem to find them anywhere.

Would appreciate a quick help and reason why the command seems to fail.

best regards

What exactly are you typing on your terminal: "smbclient" or "smbclient command"? When you say "Enterprise Linux Server" do you mean RHEL?

If you're typing "smbclient" and getting back a "command not found" error, it likely means that the Samba package is not installed.

BTW, RHEL 5.3 is woefully out of date. The latest release of the RHEL 5 series is 5.10 IIRC. You probably should seriously look at updating to take advantages of numerous bug and security fixes.
