smb4k freezes on opening mounted share
ok, I know I'm not a newbie, but I decided to ask this question here because its a newbie sort of question. I am using Fedora Core 3 with a stock kernel, and a wireless network card. I am trying to get access to all my music that is shared on my windows XP box "THEDESKTOP". The computer is on, and attached to the network.
However when I loaded smb4k I tried to access my desktop and it said I didn't have the permissions to access the mount folder. Rather blindly I followed some advice about chmoding the samba directory. so I used chmod u+s /samba/directory, and ever since I did that smb4k would mount the directory and the problem came when I tried to open the folder. it would just hang there with the hourglass, not opening up anything. no errors, or any clues on what to search for.
So I uninstalled samba and smb4k using rpm -e. Now I reinstalled samba and smb4k today, opened it up, it recognized the MSHOME workgroup, and "THEDESKTOP" was there. so I mounted "My Music" and went to open it. smb4k proceeded to freeze, and I had to force quit to get out of it. No error messages were given.
How do I fix smb4k and samba so I can actually open up the mounted folders.
