SMB & Webcam Problems in Mandriva 2009.0
 

I've recently installed Mandriva 2009.0 with KDE 4.1 desktop in my Acer Aspire 5315. Previously I used Mandriva 2008.0. The problems I failed to solve so far are webcam & smb. The webcam is Acer Crystal Eye, it doesn't work in Kopete & Skype, but it does work in Ekiga. About smb problem, it runs very slow. Transferring file from a Windows machine to my Acer takes much longer than it did when I still used Mandriva 2008.0. I've tried all the suggestions I found in http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/2009.0_Errata but there's no result for both problems so far.

Any suggestion?

yes next time pls consider separate posts after researching each issue pls.

2) I do not think IMHO kde 4.1 is fully stable...hint hint.

but I shall attempt to address just the cam as I do not use samba.

ignore the sidux waffle and consider the searchable links after running lsusb to get the ids which you can then search in google.
