Small fonts after installing NVIDIA driver
Hello. I've just installed the linux NVIDIA drivers and all went well. However, when I logged back into X the fonts became smaller. So I went to the KDE control center and enlarged all the fonts. However, some apps which are not KDE related (in my case, apps like Gaim, gFTP and X-Chat) still have smaller fonts than usual, and I'd really like to get them bigger as they were before. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advace. |
Also I don't see the KDE loading screen ever since I installed it. Is there anyway to get it back?

Anyone? :\

Just configure the font size within the application itself.
by loading screen do you mean kdm the login manager? |
Create a file called .gtkrc-2.0 in your homedir and type this line in it:
Code:
gtk-font-name="Sans 12"Restart your X session. |

Are there any other solutions to fix the small font problem? I used that hidden folder technique that was mentioned before but for some reason it stops working after a while. Last time it didn't work I just deleted it and made it again and things were working again but the fonts are small again. I haven't done any playing around with any drivers or anything that I can think of that might have possibly changed things, actually haven't done anything really techy at all on it in a while. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I installed my NVIDIA drivers, but everything went fine for me. Did you compile your own kernel interface or did you get one from the NVIDIA FTP site? I am not sure if this is the problem, but I just installed from the installer and compiled my own kernel interface using the program that comes with the installer.

I did the same thing. I just let nvidia make me one. Things are back to normal now, I think all I did was save the file again? I don't think I deleted it, I think I just opened it and saved it. Hmm. Must be getting old or I would be able to remember for sure ^^
