slow mplayer launching


guys mplayer is cool for multimedia files...but my 2gb ram laptor running gutsy takes a lot of time to launch mplayer even when no other programs are running sideby.what can b the trouble???how can i fix it??

your mplayer might be damaged. try 2 update your mplayer from source.i think it will help.

yeah i tried it but my wireless net connection says "unable to resolve PROXY ADDRESS'.what should i do??can i get a package from net and install by command??
