I just recently re-installed mandrake 9, and no matter what browser i use (galeon, konquerer or mozilla) it takes FOREVER to load a page. I use a cable connection to the internet, and Im going throught a router (linksys befsx41)...I had mandrake 8.2 installed on the same EXACT computer and it was not this slow. It seems to only be network/internet related, because everything else is running smooth. I dual boot with windows xp, connection is great in XP.. mandrake has 10 gigs with a 595mb swap, no proxies needed for my connection, all DHCP. Shorewall is running, but even when I stop it I have the same connection speed. Any ideas would be much appreciated
I went throught the network setup again, somehow it had defaulted to a lan connection, when I changed it to cable, everything was a little faster. Strangely (maybe not??) when I make my screen resolution higher it also impoves speed, after a restart I had to run back through the network setup, is there some kind of default file I have to change or what could be going on...BTW I cant load XP because I got hit with Bugbear and Im paranoid to load xp while connected to the internet, I still have to thoughourly go through it, and run the removal..maybe format..
