Slow internet in suse8.2

ive read about a few similar problems , but none have fixed mine yet.

i have suse8.2 dual booted with winxp, and when i use the internet in suse it is really slow, i have a dsl connection that runs fine in xp. i read about turning off ipv6 which i think i did and it helped a little bit but its still slow?

any suggestions will help me

You'll have to post some more info. Do you run xconsole? If not then try to or read through /var/log/syslog and see if you get any errors. Are you accessing internet through a proxy/firewall?
