Angry Slow Graphics in games

I had mandrake 8.2 recently and everything seemed to run fast and crisp when i played games, such as tux racer, now that I switched to redhat, all my games run slow, les than 1 frame/second! Is this because maybe i set an incorrect video driver, during installation i allowed the install program to probe my hardware and i am able to use gnome at something like 1000 x 700 res at 24bit color. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

i forgot what video adapter i have but the probing says that its an intel, I have a standard compaq presario 5000 series model 5BW120. I decided to switch to redhat because it was more popular on cnet, and it came with wine packages and other neat stuff that i would have to spend hours installing under mandrake. I also like the software packaging system utils that come with redhat.

yeah my games run really slow in red hat 7.2 as well. i have a 400Mhz AMD Processor with 64MB of RAM. I am going to put in more memory but I dunno if that is a good solution or not. I will have to investigate.

Hmm desktop runs games (RTCW) better under redhat 7.2 then it does in mandrake or Slackware.
AMD Duron 850
384mb PC133
GF2mx400 32mb@1024x768x24

I guess each system likes different flavors. My Laptop runs better on slackware then it does redhat.

Yes that is true, but im talking about a draumatic speed difference. Comparing 40fps to less than 1fps. Theres got to be something really wrong.

I would have to say you dont have the drivers for your video card installed correctly.
