I installed a Slack 2.6 on a seperate partition, and it works fine with grub. So i guess the problem was with the kernel 2.4. It just seemed weird that it would boot with a floppy, but not with grub. If saikee is out there reading this, maybe you would like to delve into it, because I know you have an interest in booting everything you possibly can with grub!
