Slackware cd install external usb hdd via laptop


Hello,

I wanted to install slackware cd on an external usb hdd connected to my laptop. If i removed my internal hdd could i install it on the external drive without messing up w7 on my internal hdd?

Actually last time I followed the documented instructions for installing slackware it involved copying a stage3 tarball to the installation location and chrooting into it to configure. You could easily follow the instructions and set up the installation via a livecd and knowing the key to press to get the custom boot menu for your machine (or at least how to change the boot order in bios) You just need to be careful to know exactly which device you're working on.

Removing your windows drive physically from the machine is a little overkill, but would certainly prevent you from messing it up.

No it doesn't need stage 3 tarball. I think you confused Slackware installation with Gentoo.
