Slackware 9.1 install - PCI cache line size incorrect

Hi, I am a Linux newbie who is trying to install Slackware 9.1.

The system boots from cd1 no problem and I reach the Boot prompt, where I try to boot the default kernel. However I receive the following error

"PCI: 00:03.2 PCI cache line size set incorrectly (32bytes) by BIOS/FW."
"PCI: 00:03.2 cache line size too large - expecting 16."

I tried to remedy the problem by changing the PCI cache line size in my bios but the lowest value available is 32. I have searched these forums and the net but have found no solutions.

Any ideas on how to get around this problem?

Thanks in advance

I know with Mandrake, you have options on how to boot the install kernel. I'm not sure about slack.

Have you tried (during install)

linux -nodetect

Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion Ryeman. Unfortunately it resulted in a kernel panic. Will keep trying though

Cheers

Hi chmartin23,

Sorry but I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem either. For the moment I am sticking with Mandrake 10.

Best of luck though
