Sorry, I mean when asked what kernel you want to use when installing. It will give you a choice saying from cdrom. Then there will be a list. You will have to know what controller you have. The Adaptec 7xxx controllers would use aic7xxx.s kernel.
When I installed Slack on my server which had an SCSI CD-ROM attached to a AHA-2940 controller and a IBM ServerRaid contrller for the hard drives. I had to pick the aic7xxx.s kernel and then load the raid.s to see my hard drive(s). to do the install. Then when asked what kernel to boot to I ad to pick the raid.s. Once I booted the system for the first time I had to edit my /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and uncomment the module aic7xxx.s (I think). If you need more help let me know what kind of cdrom (scsi/ide) and what controller you are using.
