Slackware 64bit DVD 13.37 installation hangs up at poppler in the L package
 

During setup the installation hangs up during the following screen:

Installing package poppler-data-0.4.4-noarch-1 [OPT]
poppler-data (data files used by poppler)

This package consists of encoding files for use with poppler. The encoding files are optional and poppler will automatically read them if they are present. When installed, the encoding files enables poppler to correctly render CJK and Cyrillic properly. While poppler is licensed under the GPL, these encoding files are copyright Adobe and licensed much more strictly, and thus distributed separately.

Size: Compressed: 1.4M, uncompressed: 11M.


I tried to not install the "L" series package but the installation hangs up elsewhere later down the line.

Any help would be appreciated and thank you.

Have you checked if the DVD is burned correctly? May be it hangs due to read errors on the disc.

I suspect either a downloaded ISO corrupt image or burn ISO image error.

You should verify the downloaded image!

The 'md5sum' or 'hash' is very important to learn to use and too regularly get in the habit of utilizing it. You can get a sum checker for M$ if need be; 'md5sum.exe'.

For GNU/Linux the 'man md5sum' will get you all the information to perform the check. You can get the 'man command from the 'cli' at anytime.

If you downloaded the CD/DVD iso then be sure to check the md5sum for the original ISO. From the cli;If the iso md5 is ok then you should try 'CdromMd5sumsAfterBurning''. This way you will know if the burn was OK!
This will check the download ISO with the known md5sum that you also get with the ISO. You should do the check for any download that you might perform, even a LiveCD. Plus the burnt image. Sometimes you may need to lower the burn rate to get a valid burn for the ISO.

Is the burn drive you are using the same as the boot drive?
