Slackware 12 Install not booting after setup

Hi I am really green to Linux and have been following the advise of a how to page with what was looking like some really positive success.

Having completed the install I rebooted the PC and removed the Disc expecting the LILO Boot screen but the system stalled after running the usual checks.

I am not sure that LILO installed correctly and don't know how to fix it. Also during the installation of the components I was never prompted for disc 2 is this usual.

I know this is probably some rather basic stuff for you all but I would really appreciate a helping hand.

Regards
Al

Did you install lilo on the MBR? If not your POST will not find any boot code to start lilo. Boot with your Slack cd, mount your hard drive and install lilo to the MBR. If you need help with this let me know.

Thanks

Indeed I thought that I had installed the LILO in the MBR however I will try this again and see whether that resolves the issue.

Thanks for the quick response.

Did you do a newbie/full install? If so then you would have been prompted for the cd2. Did you allocate enough HD space for the install?

What did you get at the boot screen?

Sorted Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions and recommendations. Not sure exactly what it was but a reinstall of the OS using the same method but using the original Partitions worked a treat this time round I managed to get both disc 1 & 2 installed.

Now enjoying setting the rest of the device drivers up and exploring x for the first time.

Thanks
Al
