Skype and installing libraries/packages
I've got an Aspire one Linpus Linux Lite and I have a problem installing Skype.
When I tried to run Skype after downloading I got the following: skype: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version 'GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (Required by Skype) In the terminal window I typed the following: rpm -q glibc And got glibc-2.9-2 How do I install the required packages/libraries? Thank you. |
Hello Bedour86 and welcome to LQ,
Due to other postings of newbies using linpus, I'd recommend to install a full featured (and modern, up to date) linux-distribution. In particular if you intend to learn a bit of Linux, it will be easier to do so with another distribution. Maybe mint is a good choice for your computer: http://linuxmint.com/ Here a link, refering to your problem, but 2 years old: http://www.linux.com/archive/forums/topic/2559 Markus |
try http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook - a very newcomer friendly distro (there's even a "how to install" in a link from that page)
* http://peppermintos.com/ is is lighter (and better suited for netbooks, because of it) than Ubuntu/Mint |
