size of login window

I have a problem when i just login. The window size is only half the screen size. How do i make it larger.

When i login the screen is not redhat, i have to type startx to get into graphic mode. before which the window i get is at the ccenter of the screen and pretty small. display seems to be giving settings in the graphic mode
