Single User Mode From GRUB

Hi

Basic question...
I'm having troubles booting into single user mode from GRUB.

i have breezed through the options in GRUB but am unable to find anything letting me to boot single user mode.

I am trying this without floppy, so if anybody could help me out, it would be great.

thanks
medamnit

On my system, when I boot up, I get a grub splashscreen that I can select which os I want to boot. If I select ' linux ' and press the ' e ' key, it takes me to edit mode where I can edit the linux entry in the grub config file ( it doesn't really alter the grub config file contents ). All I have to do to get into single user mode is edit the ' kernel ' line and add ' single ' to the end of it. Press the <ENTER> key and then the ' b ' key and it boots into single user mode. Although on my system, I have to enter in the root password to get into single user mode. Most systems don't do that.
