Single user mode, asking for root password
Hello:
On a CentOS 6 Enterprise 6 server, I can always boot it to single user mode without being asking for root password; until... I removed a file system but left its mount entry on /etc/fstab. Reboot failed. Reboot again, on GRUB, enter single or 1 to boot into single user mode. booting... An error occurred during the file system check, Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot when you leave the shell Warning –SELinux is active Disabling security enforcement for system recovery Run ‘setenforce 1’ to reenable Give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue): Login incorrect. Is it normal that boot (even single user mode) asks for password since it has file system problem ? 2nd issue, somehow console (HP Porliant DL380 G5, iLO Remote Console) only takes one key stroke and immediately rejects. Any recommendation ? I boot to Rescue Mode to fix /etc/fstab issue. Thanks. Warren |
