Have you tried just disabling the flash plugin?
(set it to "never activate" in the Addons tab).
Youtube (and lots more other places) should then just use html5 and not bug you / not run like crap.

You know what, I have to apologize. I was having trouble viewing videos on Firefox a long time ago. That's why I switched to Chrome whenever I needed to watch videos. So just recently I got the notice that Chrome was being phased out 3/16 so I figured I'd better get a new browser to watch videos, but when I just tried Firefox (for videos) again it worked fine. So addios Chrome. (You won't be stealing my information any more!)
