simulating network installation of RHEL5


I have CentOS installed on my system.I have ubuntu too running in VirtualBox on centOS.I want to simulate network based installation of RHEL/CentOS.please suggest some way out.Can it be done on a stand alone PC with internet?

Yes it can be done. However, you do need to have a subscription/s for the machines you want to install - thereafter you can install via RHN.

Note that doing this isn't the best idea, since you're basically dependent on the speed of your network connection to the internet.

An alternate is what is called an RHN Satellite server; where you purchase a license that allows a machine local to your network; to have full access to the Red Hat Network.

This machine updates on a daily basis; and thereafter you can provision any other machine with RHEL 5 via your RHN Satellite.

Sure. Let's use Centos. In short:
0. on the VB host install and configure a web or FTP server*,
1. D/L the Centos installation ISOs, unpack them to your docroot and set up the repo,
2. D/L the Centos netboot ISO, create a new VB guest and boot it from the ISO pointing to your local install WWW/FTP/whateverelse tree.

* You could also do things the PXE way with TFTP, DHCP and NFS.

Thats too concise! please elaborate or suggest some link where i can find this method with little elaboration.
