Simple Image Editing Software??

Hi there,
I've just been over on the Lycoris Community website and the forums there.
I am after a really simple to use image editing application. The really good people on the Lycoris community forums suggested I might try ImageMagick. I have looked at the Imagemagick website and it seems that this is in the form of 'binaries' and must be 'compiled'. As I have only been using Linux properly for a couple of weeks (since windows died), I think that compliling binaries is too ambitious at this point!!

Is there an RPM version, do you know? I may just be able to cope with
rpm -i imagemagick

{{This was my complete problem:
Hi, I've just changed from windows to Lycoris, so I am new to Linux. Although The Gimp is included, it seems unnecessarily complicated and has far too many functions for what I need.

Under windows I had a pakage called Arcsoft PhotoStudio 2000. I only got a computer last year, and had never used a computerised photographic programme previously, but the Arcsoft PhotoStudio was laid out in such a straighforward way that I did not even have to read the instruction to make it work and do all the thigs I need - really simple to use.

So: Is there a really good photo imaging package in Linux that is REALLY EASY to use??

All I really need is Cropping, Rotating, Lightening/Darkening, Contrast Adjustment, Sharpness Control and the ability to add Text to photographs - in a simple and obvious manner.

I am sure The Gimp is excellent, but even after reading a tutorial in a magazine I don't understand it and cannot make it work. Frustratingly the 'Help' button in Gimp does not work, - no help whatsoever appears when I select help.

So please a nice simple package anyone??! }}}

ImageMagick sounded good, but I don't think I should be compiling yet ( I wasn't even a very good windows operator!!)

Thanks all.
Mike:)

Here's a variety of rpms -
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...ry=ImageMagick

They are not specifically for Lycoris, but if you try a few, you will probably find one that works on your machine. (www.google.com/linux threw this page up as the first hit from a search "rpm imagemagick)

Have you tried wine? It's possible that Arcsoft PhotoStudio 2000 runs under wine. It might be worth the effort investigating wine and learning what it can do. With wine, sometimes you can install software designed for Windows on your Linux box. Have you installed wine?

Wine does come with Lycoris, but how would you install a windows program on Linux?
Best wishes, mike
