simple compatability question

I'm a newbie with a quite simple question.

I have an HP pavillion i bought a couple of years ago with factory video and sound cards.

it's 800mhz PIII with 128 MB of RAM

i've installed RH 7.2

is that the right distro/version for my hardware? would something else take better advantage of my machine but keep the ease/customability of RH?

Help would be appreciated..

yeah, that's fine, bit old now, but it'll be just as good as any other popular distro.

You can try newest RH version (8.0) if you wish.

yeah, i know its old. i just got the 7.2 cd's for free. is that a good distro/version to learn linux on? I'm coming from using that shite called Win ME for a couple of years. that has to be the absolutely worst operating system on earth.

i also got a slackware 8.1 cd..would that be easier/better?

which one would you guys recommend?
