signal 11 (sigsegv) when trying to print

I am seriously impaired with computer knowledge. My nephew installed Kubuntu 7. something. New hardware - Antec, seems good. At first, Open Office did not work. Then it did. Kaffeine Player worked. Now no video unless .mpg . avi and wmv no picture. Now no print - get the error message above. Backtrace, if it helps:
(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".

I always update when told, and that is about the extent of my knowledge, so please don't reply as though I know much else. Explicit if possible.

Thanks

since no-one else has replied I will start the ball rolling.

Did your nephew tell you the root password? Pls do not post it....all I need to know is that you have it= microsoft system admin password

the k in kubuntu stands for KDE which a bit like microsoft so it has a "start" button and I do not use your system but you should be able to find in the menu that opens up....something called kde control center

under peripherals you will find printer....if printer is on...the info should show idle accepting jobs ....post what that status is pls.

2) is your printer model named? if not...it was not setup properly. You open a web browser and type
http://localhost:631/
into the address bar and press enter...it should take you to a cups page and then you click on admin and click on add printer and follow the prompts
