Shutdown routine with power button
Is there a way start a shutdown routine when the power button is pressed once?

Probably not. On most machines, the power button directly interacts with the flow of electricity  .
What you can do, usually, is configure the control/alt/delete keyin to do a "shutdown -h now" command which will gracefully bring your Linux system to a state where it can be interrupted from the power supply. What distro do you have and do you use a GUI or a window manager? |
Some time ago, in a galaxy far far away, on a planet known as Microhard, I was able to do that in another well known OS. I think there must be a way, this would be of course on an ATX case, not AT. I will poke around and see if I can find anything, that may have been a feature of the BIOS though.
