EDIT: Disregard this please, I've found the problem. Somehow the execute property on the halt script had been disabled. I assume it happened when I edited(with gedit).




I've been running linux RH9 for about a week now, starting today my shutdown process is hanging and the only solution is to do a hard power off.
Only thing I can tell you is the last things to show on the screen is the killall process running and seemingly running ok( [OK] showing on the right)
then the message(not exact quote) ' INIT no more processes to kill'

I know these are normal, but there is supposed to be more after that, seems I remember the init level changing then more processes being killed.
Anyway, I can't find any logs that show the process to this point. Anyone know what may be happening?

what was the name of the halt script that you edited.
