Don't know if this makes much sense but does it reboot with ctrl+alt+del? If so then it is possible to tie shutdown or halt to a similar keybinding. Forget what file it is in, it is something to do with runlevels, from memory.

So if a similar keybinding, or the same one would make it shutdown you'd be happy??

Incidentally it seems a bit odd that ctrl+alt+del works but, presumably
Code:

$ shutdown -r now
does not.

All I was saying was that there is a file, whose name I've forgoten, which makes the ctrl+alt+del work and tells you that you may have another binding to shutdown. *If* memory serves it is a file you fiddle about with if you are creating a custom runlevel. /etc/init.d/rc ????
