Should I upgrade?

I have Xubuntu installed on an iBook G3. (600 MHz,128 RAM)
I see at the Update Manager that says Version 7.04 is available.Upgrade now

What should I do?What new versions offer? Are they faster or they just have better graphics?

I think they are up to 7.10 already. On a dell notebook, I upgraded all the way from Ubuntu 6.04 (?) to 7.10 (sequentially, not skipping any releases) and had no problems.

Yes I know that they are at 7.10 and that I have to install 7.04 first.
But my question was should I upgrade or not.I have a slow computer and I am afraid maybe the new version is more "heavy'.

I don't think there is much of a difference between Xubuntu 6.10 and 7.04 in terms of memory use, I think you will be fine in upgrading, but it would probably be better to do a fresh install

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Well, finally I decided to upgrade but after I followed the instructions nothing happened! It said that it couldn't find some Perl things I think.

BTW,Can I download a MAC OS torrent on my Windows PC,burn it on a CD/DVD and than install it on my iBook?

Agreed, if everything works like you want, leave it alone!

I have a dual pIII running Debian Sarge and it works just fine, I plan on leaving it that way too. Now if you plan on doing a fresh install just for the fun of it, or you have newer hardware then that's a different story. But just because a newer version is available doesn't mean you need to upgrade. Also if your talking security updates, you want to stay up to date on them.
