Should I remove Sendmail if I want Postfix?
 

I am on Scientific Linux.

While trying to remove sendmail, YUM asked to remove depended packages:

alpine
fetchmail
mdadm
mutt
redhat-lsb
sendmail-cf

Should I really remove them and sendmail?

If trying to install potfix, YUM does not say that sendmail is incompatible and does not ask to remove it.

What to do?

sendmail & postfix can't co-exist. Why yum wants to remove
all the other packages is beyond me.

Worked ok in reverse order: first install postfix, then remove sendmail

That makes yum look pretty darn stupid ;}
