shortcut creation..
What's the procedure for creating a shortcut on the desktop? I'm new to Linux (obviously) and have downloaded Thunderbird as my email client. It currently resides in /home/username/thunderbird (not sure if I got that right). ANYway, when I click on it in that directory it opens right up but I'd rather have a shortcut on the desktop. I'm using SuSE 9.3

I don't know much of anything SUSE but I'll go out on a limb and assume your working with a distro that supports the KDE desktop. In KDE, you right click anywhere on the desktop. On the popup, go to Create New --> File --> Link to Application.... In the general tab, give it an appopriate name. Then click on the application tab. Click the browse button and find the app you want to link to.
Hope that helps. |
Thank you so much! That's exactly what i was looking for. Works great!
