sharing files

Im using Fedora 2 core and I am trying to share a folder so that I can access it from other Windows computers on the Network. I cannot get it to work. Any one have some ideas?

My samba server configuration says that I have the directory /root/scantest with the permission to Read/write but I cant browse to it from a windows computer.

I've just spent the best part of a damn week trying to learn how to configure samba. I found it to be "a bit of a bugger"!.

So, if you want to read the help that I got from one of my magazine forums, You can read it here. You'll also notice in one of the earlier posts, a link to some stuff that was posted by someone else that I couldn't get to work as it was for SuSE 9.3 and windows XP.

So you might have to tailor the advice/instructions. Oh and as Fedora is now available at Core 4, you might want to think about upgrading to that first, as I suspect that it will have some considerably more up to date facilities available to do this.

Hope that helps some.

regards

John

p.s. Oh and don't forget the advice was aimed at me, for a SuSE 9.3 to W98SE network so it won't be exactly the same, though it may help you find what you're looking for.
