Sharing an WinXP internet connection with linux
Hey, im completely new to linux, I searched up and down forums for the answer to my question but was unable to find an answer. So here is my problem,
I have 2 computers, computer number 1 runs win xp service pack 1, and computer 2 runs Mandriva 2006, both machines have a belkin wireless 54g network card within them. But only computer 1 has an internet connection, I was wondering if there is a way to share the windows internet connection with my linux computer, if so how? thank you -Adam |

An alternative might be to purchase an access point. I'd highly recommend the Linksys WRT54G (but not the version 5.0 as that's crippled!) as it runs Linux and there are several projects that create firmware for the Linksys that add a plethora of functionality to this inexpensive router/switch/wireless access point. Hope that helps! |
The computer running XP is directly connected to the computer, I installed the windows drivers for the network card on mandriva using ndiswrapper, and on the XP computer ive set up a network place called 'Adam' and enabled sharing on my internet connection, is it possible now from the linux box just to connect to the network place 'Adam'? thanks again.
thanks for your reply but I really don't want to buy any more peripherals as I am totally skint :P. -Adam |
