shared library problem

hi. I'm fairly new to linux and I'm trying to set up my computer to use samba so i can share files with my windows machine easily.

when i try smbd -start, i get "smbd: error while loading shared libraries: libsas12.so.2. cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

i noticed recently that sendmail spits out the same message, so it's not just samba.

I've searched many places on the internet for info about this file, but I can't find much. any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi,

And welcome to LQ!

I think that's libsasl2, not libsas12 ... anyway, to help you with the
problem we'll need to know your distribution, so we can assess
which package you need to install by which means.

Cheers,
Tink

i'm using slackware. if you wanna know what version or anything, you'll have to tell me how to find that out because i friend installed it all for me.

and yes, i meant to type libsasl
